Rose of the Month ~ August 2003

Love and Peace

Love and Peace is a new arrival in the hybrid tea world but is making it's mark in a hurry. A 2002 AARS winner, Love and Peace is a rose worthy of it's Peace heritage. It is classified as a yellow blend by the ARS (not yet rated) but the color can change dramatically due to growing conditions. The photos below are an example, the bud photo was taken at one garden, the bloom and bush photos at another. Also, at helpmefind.com (link below) there were many photos showing the same thing.

In my zone 4 garden, Love and Peace is doing remarkably well considering it's never been sprayed and only fertilized once. I can only imagine what it could do if I actually took care of it. As a hybrid tea, it will need to be tipped for the winter, but the plant is very robust, giving it a great chance of overwintering without too much dieback.
