Rose of the Month ~ June 2004

Gizmo

Because it was one of the first roses to bloom this year, and because the black spot creeping into the garden hasn't seemed to touch it yet, Gizmo is June's Rose of the Month. Introduced in 1998, Gizmo is a cross of Carrot Top and Little Artist and is classified as an orange blend minature. The ARS has given it a rating of 8.0. The blooms are single with only 5-6 petals and the bush grows to around 1 foot tall and wide. The foliage is medium-green and is relatively resistant to black spot and mildew. In Zone 4 it has some winter hardiness but will do better with covering. What is your experience with Gizmo? Rate it in the poll below.
