Rose of the Month ~ June 2002

Jeanne Lajoie

This month's rose is Jeanne Lajoie. We seem to have picked pink roses for the last few months, but this rose is looking so healthy right now it just cried out for the rose of the month honor. Jeanne Lajoie was introduced as a medium pink miniature climber in 1975, has since received the ARS Excellence award and holds an impressive ARS rating of 9.3. After our warmer than normal winter this mini climber was green all the way to the tips and is now covered with shiny dark green foliage and tons of buds.

Disease resistant and a vigorous bloomer, this rose is an asset to any garden. It's good on a pillar or trellis with support and cascades well in a container or over a wall. The photos below show a two year old plant in early summer.
