Maria Stern

The rose of the month for March is Maria Stern, introduced in 1969. It is a hybrid tea classified as orange blend. The blooms vary from pink to coral to apricot-orange, with ruffled petal edges and a bold, spicy fragrance. It is a strong bloomer and is a bright spot in the garden all summer. As a hybrid tea it requires heavy winter protection in Zone 4 although when researching this month's entry I noticed some websites say it's hardy to Zone 3. Interesting. Have you tried it yet?
